Emergency Walk-In clinic is open with important changes to make it Covid-secure
- Your temperature will be taken as you enter the building and you will be asked screening questions.
If your temperature is above 37.8 or if you answer
yes to any of the questions then a nurse will speak with you to make safe arrangements for your appointment.
- Email uclh.htdadmin@nhs.net to register with the clinic, including your name, date of birth and mobile phone number.
- Await email reply/phone call with our team, who will arrange your appointment.
- The timing of the appointment will depend on the urgency but we aim to see all patients the same or the following day.
- We need to limit numbers in our waiting area so if you can’t email ahead, please call 07966775952.
Please only use this number in an emergency.
- Please note, this email address and phone number are manned during opening hours (9-5 Monday – Friday).
If you need medical attention out of these hours please attend your local Emergency Department.
The Hospital for Tropical Diseases (HTD) is the national centre for patients with tropical and infectious diseases.
It is the only NHS Hospital dedicated to the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of tropical diseases and travel related infections.
The Hospital serves long and short-term travellers, immigrants and refugee populations and those preparing for travel.
We also see a broad range of non-tropical infections from the community and healthcare settings in our infectious diseases clinics, in a rapid and responsive manner.
We are experiencing a technical issue where members of the public receive missed calls from 020 3456 7891.
Please be assured that if you do receive a call from this number there is no need to call us, and it can be ignored.
This number is no longer in use. We are investigating the issue and will update once it has been resolved.
Please under no circumstances to provide personal or financial details to a caller.
The services we provide at HTD are:

Please note that our preferred method of receiving referrals is via NHS e-RS.
From 16th July all new routine referrals from GPs to Consultant-led outpatient services need to be referred via
NHS e-Referrals. Referrals received outside of e-RS will not be processed but returned to the referring GP. This
is in line with the National ‘Paper Switch Off’ Project. This is to ensure we are compliant with the NHS
England 17 / 18 Contract.
Urgent referrals will be processed and a notification will be sent to the GP stating NHS e-RS is our preferred method of receiving referrals.
All referrals are reviewed by a clinician and if it is felt that a patient needs to be seen sooner than the appointment date booked,
the appointment will be brought forward.
