Our People

Scotmas was founded as, and remains, a family owned business. From small beginnings, the company now employs over 50 people between our Scottish Head Office and our worldwide network of sales offices, joint ventures and production centres.

Our skill base ranges from chemists, microbiologists and medical doctors, through to highly skilled craftsmen, engineers and technical consultants.

Taking care to encourage and respect diversity in the workplace, our company benefits from the ability to draw on the talents and experiences of staff from over 12 different nationalities, speaking 6 different languages. Chairman

Derek Cameron first applied Chlorine Dioxide chemistry in 1980 when remediating poorly performing agricultural and food processing units in West Africa. Building on this experience, Scotmas was established to apply the same Chlorine Dioxide chemistry to a variety of markets around the world.

Derek qualified in Agricultural Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, and worked for a number of years as a geneticist and livestock manager for agribusinesses around the world before establishing Scotmas. He is currently a Fellow of the Institute of Sales & Marketing Management, and participates in a number of industry wide initiatives to promote water treatment, hygiene and environmental care.

Alistair Cameron

Managing Director

An experienced manager and founding member of the business, Alistair has been at the forefront of efforts to commercialise Scottish water technologies.

As a microbiology graduate from the University of Edinburgh, Alistair’s scientific background has helped to create a Company which values innovation and scientific knowledge as key areas for business success. Alistair is currently the supervisor for two Knowledge Transfer Partnership research projects, as well as overseeing various academic contract research projects and partnerships with European Universities.

Alistair is a board member of Chemical Sciences Scotland and Interface, the knowledge connection for business.

Ewan Cameron

Ewan Cameron

Agriculture Director

As Agriculture Director, Ewan has over 35 years’ experience in livestock production and food processing, working across many regions of the world including Europe, South America, Africa and the Middle East. Ewan has an intricate knowledge of Chlorine Dioxide application techniques, combined with a sympathetic understanding of agriculture production methods.

A highly qualified expert in the industry, Ewan has a Masters in Avian Science, a HND in Poultry Production, and a HNC in Poultry Husbandry, and can advise on bespoke biosecurity programmes to improve livestock wellbeing, productivity and subsequent profits for your business.

Director of Finance

Scott joined the team as Director of Finance with Scotmas in January 2016 with a brief to assist the Board with their goals to develop and grow the business.

Scott Hutcheson qualified with PwC in Edinburgh as a chartered accountant in 1988. He was Financial Director at Browns Food Group for 8 years.

Nicola Cameron

Nicola Cameron

Head of Marketing

Nicola left the world of agency marketing to join the family business in 2011. Nicola leads the Marketing Team for Scotmas Group and has repsonsibility for the Consumer Solutions division of the group.

Nicola holds a BSC Hons in Biological Sciences from the University of Edinburgh, has over 14 years of Direct Marketing industry experience and an IDM Diploma in Direct & Interactive Marketing. 

 

Ken Wilcock

Divisional Manager for Water Utilities & Industrial

As a Divisional Manager with Scotmas for over 17 years, Ken is a leading Chlorine Dioxide applications specialist who is focused on developing new business in the UK and Ireland.

Ken’s expertise is fully targeted on forming solid long-term relationships with prospective customers.  Having established Chlorine Dioxide as an emergent and favoured treatment with major UK power generators, Ken has been instrumental in achieving the recognition of Chlorine Dioxide as the preferred treatment for public drinking water. Chlorine dioxide can significantly improve water quality parameters in the public and private domain.

Steve Allan

Steve Allan

Divisional Manager for Food & Building Services

Steve has 25 years’ experience in the service and contracting industry and has worked at Scotmas for over 3 years, delivering new business to continue Scotmas’ growth in the water treatment industry.

Steve is responsible for all major customer accounts and contract management within the Healthcare, Business Services and Food & Beverage sectors.

Steve works with each customer to facilitate their requirements from concept and design, to the installation of customised Chlorine Dioxide solutions or off-the-shelf packages, whether it is a direct client requirement, or via a consultant or main contractor.

Carolyn Parker

Carolyn Parker

Marketing Executive

Carolyn has over 6 years’ professional marketing experience in online and offline marketing, with particular expertise in digital channels and content management.   

A highly qualified marketing professional, Carolyn holds a BA (Hons) in Marketing from the University of Stirling, and delivers marketing across the Scotmas Group and the Consumer Solutions division of the Group.
